Once a quarter JP Chess has a one-night blitz tournament using standard SWISS system pairing. The next blitz tournament will be in March 2026. There will be 10 rounds. In each round the players play their opponent once with the allotted color. The time controls are 5 minutes per player with zero increment. The games are not rated. Entry is free and prizes are limited.

10 Rounds, 1 games per round (1 game with alloted color).

Schedule

6:00 Casual chess and in-person registration opens 

6:20 All players should be present (inform Tournament Director)

6:20 Spots freed up and first round pairings done

6:30 Round 1

9:00 Estimated end time

Rounds 2-10 start on completion of prior round. Please report your results to tournament administrator as soon as your game is completed.

USCF Blitz rules will apply which include touch move and "taking of the king". Please read.

Safety

If you feel sick or have been in close contact with someone recently with COVID please do not attend the tournament. We are meeting in a public place. Please keep your belongings safe at all times. Parental supervision is required for juniors.

Registered Players and Waitlist

On-line registration  will open in December. Your name will appear on the list below once accepted by the tournament administrator. Priority will be given to Thursday regulars. Spots are limited to 24 players, but potentially we may add more spots on the evening depending on available physical space

If you are on the waitlist or wish to play, please turn up on the evening (no later than 6:20pm) when spots for no-shows will be given on a first come first served basis on the evening. 

​

 

Below is the list of approved entrants. Note that we use an established chess.com rating (or converted from lichess.org/USCF rating) as not all entrants below have a USCF rating. The tournament is not rated but uses the est. rating below for the SWISS pairing.
